Cars in German City Found Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Police Confirm

Authorities mentioned they were alerted by a resident who noticed a automobile in Hanau smeared with reddish fluid

Approximately 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Automobiles, walls and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a statement.

Law enforcement state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.

The fluid had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Officers then found multiple other marked vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police report preliminary tests suggest the substance was likely human blood.

"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; officials are currently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the incident," they added.

City officials said they were trying "to solve the case" and have requested to the residents for tips.

An important official said the incident made him stunned and needed to be addressed promptly.

"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist attack five years ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the murder of nine victims by a shooter aiming at people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
